Another great business that has decided to call Crawley Innovation Centre home is Quantum Group, who is a leading security and facilities company. They offer a wide range of services across the South East, such as security guarding and close protection, mobile patrols and alarm response for individuals, trade, commercial and industrial businesses.
We sat down with Justin Callard-Quinche, Managing Director of Quantum Group, to find out more about the business and what it’s like working from the Crawley Innovation Centre.
Q. How did Quantum Group begin?
Quantum Security Group Ltd was founded in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time, I was working at a quarantine hotel established for individuals arriving in the UK from high-risk COVID-19 countries. My role involved testing security staff on-site, and I later progressed into a management position. One evening during a shift, I spoke with my partner, and together we decided to start our own security business, one that would prioritise professionalism, high standards and fair pay for staff. From that conversation, Quantum Security Group was born.
Since founding Quantum, I have advanced my career to become a qualified security consultant, earning professional qualifications through the Chartered Management Institute, with access to Chartered Consultant membership, and completing the Frontier Risks Academy SRMC Course based at the Cabinet Office.
These experiences provided valuable insight into the security industry. I took the time to understand the responsibilities of security officers and managers, learning what security work involves across different environments. This sparked a deeper interest in the sector and motivated me to gain as much knowledge as possible about the roles and challenges faced by frontline security professionals.
From our beginnings as a subcontractor for various security companies, the business has grown significantly over the past four years. In the last year, we have evolved into Quantum Group, expanding our services to include a comprehensive range of reception and facilities management solutions. We have also developed our CCTV monitoring and ARC control room, alongside the establishment of the Quantum Training Academy, which delivers Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) qualifications and a range of eLearning courses, supporting professional development across security and facilities sectors.
Q. What made you decide to base your business at Crawley Innovation Centre?
We were very fortunate that Crawley Borough Council initially approached us to oversee the day-to-day management of the Crawley Innovation Centre, which included front-of-house operations, security, and cleaning services, until the appointed management company, Oxford Innovation Space, was ready to take over. When we began working with the council in February 2025, I decided that this would be the new home for Quantum Group for the next five years.
Being based at the centre has been ideal for our growth and networking. It gives us the space, access to Manor Royal BID and the correct facilities to run a secure CCTV monitoring and Alarm Receiving operations centre and Training Academy. Initially providing security and facilities management for Crawley Innovation Centre also allowed us to ensure a safe and professional environment for tenants and visitors alike, which we took great pride in.
Q. What advice would you give businesses in the South East who are thinking about working with a security service firm?
When choosing a security partner, businesses should focus on reliability, professionalism, and value, not just cost. A strong security provider will take the time to understand your business, your risks and your people and deliver solutions tailored to your needs.
It’s also important to work with a company that invests in its staff through proper training and fair pay. Well-trained, motivated, and professional security personnel are far more effective and can provide peace of mind for everyone on-site. Ultimately, security is about trust and long-term partnership, so choose a firm that prioritises quality, transparency, and accountability.
