If you are not familiar with Crawley in West Sussex, you might not have also come across Manor Royal Business District either. We are lucky to reside in both, and we thought we’d tell you why this is the perfect location for Crawley Innovation Centre.
Crawley has long been associated with trade and industry, even before it was designated as one of the original new towns. However, it was the period from 1946 that marked the most remarkable rise of Crawley as a major economic driver.
The vision for the new town was bold and Manor Royal’s rise from just a field as part of a rich landowner’s estate to then being officially opened and named by Princess Elizabeth in 1950 to today being a major driver in the south east economy is impressive.
Manor Royal is now one of the UK’s largest business parks, spanning 530 acres and is five minutes from London Gatwick Airport. It has since evolved from a traditional manufacturing base into a diverse, modern economic powerhouse and home to around 30,000 jobs and around 500 businesses. Famous residents include Virgin Atlantic, Thales, Elekta, Straumann and Grant Thornton, to name just a few.
And with enviable transport links with London Gatwick just around the corner, along with two train stations, the M23 motorway a few minutes away, 24/7 buses serving the business district, along with ample car parking, businesses are spoilt for choice.
