This week is National Apprenticeship Week (9-15 February) and we thought there was no better time to showcase the apprenticeship opportunities available through our partnership with Crawley Borough Council, who own Crawley Innovation Centre.
Crawley Borough Council have a long history of investing in apprenticeships and training opportunities, such as graduate and industrial placements for local students and hands-on experience through the ‘Open Doors at Crawley College’ initiative. We spoke to Jason North, People Development Lead at Crawley Borough Council, who gave us the lowdown on apprenticeship opportunities happening locally in Crawley and how these might also benefit Crawley Innovation Centre.
Q. Can you tell us what apprenticeship opportunities you have available for all ages who live or work in Crawley?
We currently offer apprenticeship opportunities across a range of service areas at Crawley Borough Council, from housing and planning to horticulture, business administration, accountancy, procurement and specialist roles such as counter fraud investigation, health and safety, and environmental technician. These opportunities are open to people of all ages who live or work in Crawley, and we are continuing to grow our offer, including welcoming a new Housing and Property Management Assistant apprentice starting in late February/early March 2026.
Q. How will these opportunities support or link with the Crawley Innovation Centre in the Manor Royal Business District?
Our apprenticeship programme is closely aligned with the skills needs of local employers, so the experience, knowledge and qualifications our apprentices gain are directly relevant to businesses based in and around Crawley and the Manor Royal area. As our apprentices develop in areas like housing, planning, business support and green space management, they will be well placed to contribute to and collaborate with organisations at Crawley Innovation Centre, helping to strengthen the local talent pipeline and support sustainable business growth in the district.
