It’s another exciting moment for Crawley Innovation Centre as we welcome our latest customer. iProov is the first biometrics vendor to demonstrate identity guidelines (NIST 800-63-4), setting the benchmark for AI-driven fraud protection.
iProov have set up home in one of the workshop areas we offer, which can be used for prototyping, product testing and demonstrations and are using the space to develop their vehicle and pedestrian testing.
We sat down with Will Morgan, Head of Innovation for Physical Access at iProov to find out how they are using the workshop space and their plans for the future.
Q. Tell us a little more about iProov and the vehicle and pedestrian testing you are undertaking? iProov provides biometric solutions that enable the world’s most security-conscious organisations to streamline secure remote onboarding and authentication for digital and physical access. Our work is exploring biometric-enabled physical access systems began in 2021 and such has been our progress that we now have an established, validated product offering that contributes to border security systems worldwide. We’re developing technology that can process 20 travellers per minute on foot or approximately four fully loaded vehicles per minute.
Our testing and development is heavily focused on user experience and prototyping, which ensures we refine the technology before validating it in real-world environments. Building on our expertise in biometric liveness detection, it’s genuinely rewarding to apply that knowledge in a new way that creates a meaningful, positive impact for both travellers and trade.
Q. What made you decide to base yourself at the Crawley Innovation Centre and how are you settling in? Our work in vehicle processing began in 2024. The practicalities of driving test vehicles in central London soon became apparent and we quickly outgrew our London HQ. Initially, we ‘made do’ with temporary structures in fields and car parks but setup, teardown and weather presented challenges. Just under an hour away from our London office with excellent proximity to air, road, and rail links, the Crawley Innovation Centre was an obvious choice to locate and grow our testing and iterative development facilities. Additionally, the wider business community in Crawley has a strong focus on applied technology and the sciences, creating valuable opportunities to collaborate with neighbouring organisations and develop mutually beneficial partnerships.Â
Q. What are your future ambitions for iProov? As government strengthen their borders and international travel accelerates, thoughtful application of biometrics combined with a seamless user experience lies. We’re looking forward to taking our technology to the next level and improving both security and the traveller experience, while helping our partners and customers facilitate safe and lawful international travel.
